Nutritional Therapy in Colchester, Essex and Kersey, Ipswich, Suffolk. Welcome!
Nutritional therapy is a person centred, holistic approach to health care used to assist you to optimise your health and wellbeing. This may be getting to the root of niggling symptoms or using food therapeutically to support a diagnosed, chronic condition. We begin with a thorough assessment of your health, diet and lifestyle.
Helen is a qualified nutritional therapist. She works from the Tree Room, Colchester, Essex and Kersey Mill, Kersey, Ipswich, Suffolk offering 1:1 nutritional therapy consultations and food intolerance testing.
She works with people of all ages with varying symptoms and health goals. However, the majority of her clients have digestive complaints such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) or chronic constipation and often one of our first jobs is often to restore balance to the digestive system. She also has an interest in female hormone balance such as PMS and cardiovascular health such as high blood pressure.
Helen uses a wide range of tools to assess and identify potential nutritional imbalances. An understanding of how these may contribute to your symptoms and health concerns, allows her to work with you to support your body towards achieving and maintaining health.
Often knowing what to change is the easy part but actually making the changes is the challenge. Recommendations will be individualised, and discussed and negotiated with you. There is a focus on ensuring recommendations are clear and achievable and this often means taking small steps to achieve a larger, long term goal.
‘Helen is very knowledgeable and human. She showed me care and compassion. All of the advice and goals she gave me have been achievable and realistic. I would recommend seeing her for any nutritional issues’. A. Martin, Colchester Oct 2017
Nutrition and lifestyle approaches to healthcare have repeatedly been shown to support the health of all major body systems (skeletal, muscular, nervous, respiratory, cardiovascular, digestive, excretory, endocrine, immune, reproductive and integumentary [skin, hair, nails]).
Typical priorities in a nutritional therapy consultation are supporting you to achieve:
- healthy blood‐sugar balance
- optimum gastrointestinal health
- optimum energy levels
- emotional and psychological wellbeing
Functional testing, such as stool testing, may be recommended to investigate a problem further. A wide range of tests are available and Helen will clearly explain the most appropriate options for you.
